About My Clients
As I mentioned in my intro, I like to work in a partnership with my client. You are the expert of you and I am on your journey with you to get to your chosen direction. I have experience working with people of many different backgrounds (socioeconomic, race, gender). I very much look forward to meeting you, learning from you (remember, you are the expert of you), and our working together to help you go where you want to go.
My Background and Approach
I work from a trauma-informed approach to create a collaborative relationship also rooted in mutuality where both you and I are fully present and interacting in the relationship. This is to help you gain confidence and skills in your relationships with others. I have training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and some experience with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and am ready to use those skills to assist you in managing emotions, distress and addictions. I have worked with people dealing with a range of issues--depression, anxiety, thought disorders, alcohol and other drugs, and with extensive trauma backgrounds.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that all humans deserve to be happy and lead productive lives in the way they want, as long as it does not harm others. To help on the journey of life, sometimes you need to find someone else to help you take the perspective of evaluating what are your values and goals and is there alignment between where you want to go and what are you doing right now. I want to be that person for you. I have worked for 18 years with women and nonbinary individuals who were homeless to help them maintain a home and connect them to resources they deserved to help them achieve their goals. Often that resource was psychotherapy. Now I want to be that resource for you.
