About My Clients

Being a person is a predicament. From the outside, we have imposed on us countless versions of the “right” way to be. From the inside, we feel acted upon by forces that thrust us repeatedly into patterns of which we would like to be free. In psychotherapy we understand the person as having a “conscious” mind, your knowledge of your life and self, and an “unconscious” mind, your truth that speaks from underneath what you say and do, but goes unnoticed except by somebody who is trained to notice.

My Background and Approach

The relationship that forms in psychotherapy between the noticer and the noticed can be incredibly healing. This is what I aim for. Psychotherapy has been called the “talking cure”, because through it you are introduced to and allowed to “come to terms” with the parts of yourself that you have not yet. If you choose this journey, the space will be yours. You will be encouraged to speak whatever comes to mind, especially what you would have to filter or silence elsewhere. You will be listened to carefully, and will not be judged or told who you are. You will simply have reflected back to you the parts of your speech that “conscious” you did not intend, but that “unconscious” you may have. This all may seem frightening at first, but be assured that it becomes a very exciting self-discovery, and we will go about it together.
