About My Clients
Themes that center my work with clients are grief and loss, relationship and family issues, childhood trauma, and complex PTSD. I also work with those in search of individual meaning and authenticity. Together, my clients and I foster a unique space for us to explore, try on ideas, and be curious about what is at the center of our experience. In this exploration, we are able to discover an identity that feels true to each of my clients, an identity that promotes personal agency and resiliency.
My Background and Approach
I primarily work psychoanalytically. This means that my clients and I look at patterns in relationships to themselves and to others, explore the emotions or motivations held in these experiences, and begin to understand how these experiences have shaped their present life. My clients bring in their feelings, thoughts, memories, and dreams, as these elements can offer insight as to what may be at the core of their struggles. I have received (and continue to receive!) training and supervision in psychoanalytic theory and approach. I believe that psychoanalytic psychotherapy is a useful medium for exploring the landscape of one's experience, as it intrinsically seeks to understand the roots of one's distress and shifts an individual towards a life that feels reflective of who they are.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in our capacities for change, no matter one's background or upbringing. There are reasons why we have developed our respective strengths and shortcomings. To me, remaining curious and patient with these attributes is paramount. When we come to accept our varied parts of ourselves, we begin to feel whole and truly free to make choices that serve us.
