About My Clients

Life has no textbook, no classes, no teachers to teach how to be a human being in our world. Oftentimes, we find ourselves struggling to figure out how to navigate the things life throws our way. My mission is to work together as a team, meeting you where you are at every step of the way. I work with clients of all genders, age 16+, on issues such as: substance use/problem behaviors, depression, anxiety, trauma, self-image, and daily stresses of life.

My Background and Approach

I come from a place of complete nonjudgment. No matter what gender, race, sexual orientation, body type, or religious identity, my mission is to create a safe, inclusive, collaborative atmosphere. I will guide you along your journey to reach your happiest, healthiest self, whatever that means for you! I value empowerment and inclusivity. In such a divided, stressed-out, and traumatizing world, I believe therapy needs to reflect the realities of modern life. I am trauma-informed, and that goes beyond just individual traumas you may have experienced. Trauma-informed means that I recognize collective traumas we experience as well, such as the COVID-19 pandemic or racial/sexist/homophobic oppression. I am a HUGE advocate for the little wins, like going from drinking daily to weekly if you struggle with alcohol use, going to the grocery store alone if you struggle with social anxiety, getting out of bed if you struggle with depression! Progress not perfection is my motto!

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe in the biopsychosocial model of mental health. Essentially, that there are biological (body/brain-based) reasons, psychological (how you think) reasons, and social reasons (your environment and the world around you) for your behavior and symptoms. It's not just a chemical imbalance, it's a result of you as a whole person with your own unique history and identity. I wholeheartedly denounce all forms of oppression, including racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, fatphobia, and classism. As a queer woman, I am a proud member of the LGBTQ community. I believe in body positivity and body neutrality, that our bodies and our health do not represent who we are as people--they are just bodies that we live in!
