About My Clients

The therapeutic space can feel stiff, scary, and overly clinical. Clients who work with me can know that I aim to mitigate the therapist/client power dynamic within sessions. That their identities and histories will be honored and respected. That their experiences and emotions are never "too much". I work most often with clients who come from AAPI backgrounds and are wanting to address intergenerational conflicts or dynamics that affect their adult lives.

My Background and Approach

Research finds that Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders are the least likely to seek mental health services in the United States. As a second-generation, Filipina American therapist, I actively work towards providing a space for fellow AAPI individuals so that we can collectively change the stigma rooted in the culture and our communities. The modalities that I rely most heavily on are Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Rogerian (Client-Centered) Therapy, and somatic practices. I work as my client's personal advocate in being a pioneer towards their own healing and personal growth. I provide space for my clients to unwind the intricacies of their identity without shame or judgment, and encourage clients to find ways that simultaneously honor their cultural and historical backgrounds all without continuing cycles of grief, silence, and resentment.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

With a social work background, a key part of my practice is recognizing systems on the micro and macro level that impact my clients and finding resources that support harm or loss experienced due to these systems. I operate from an anti-oppressive lens and support those apart of the LGBTQIA+ community, BIPOC and immigrant communities, and those affected by systemic, socioeconomic disparities.

I offer online counseling in the following states:
