About My Clients
I specialize in working with college students and young adults, LGBTQIA+ identities, and those experiencing anxiety and adjustment to life transitions. I enjoy being able to connect with what my clients are passionate about, and I often try to find ways to include humor, pop culture references, and memes into my work. Currently, I am able to provide both in-person and telehealth therapy to North Carolina residents.
My Background and Approach
As a counselor, I use an integrative approach that is collaborative and relationship-based, values and strengths-focused, and social justice-oriented. My approach is influenced by components of and includes teaching skills from Person-Centered, Acceptance and Commitment, Dialectical Behavioral, and Cognitive Behavioral therapies. Additionally, I practice from a lens that is trauma-informed and acknowledges the influence of systemic marginalization, intersectionality, and social injustices. Previously, I completed my graduate field experience at a university counseling center, where I later completed a 2 year Post-Masters Fellowship. I then continued working for the university as an adjunct counselor. In addition to specializing in providing individual therapy to college students, I have facilitated group therapy for LGBTQIA+ students, skills and psychoeducation based workshops for anxiety management, and DBT-informed skills groups.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Being human can be tough! We exist as beings with intersecting identities within layers of systems that interact and influence our experience in the world. While experiencing the challenges that life may hold, I believe you deserve to be heard, understood, and accepted. For me, it is such a deep honor to be a part of your journey as we navigate life’s challenges. As someone who has been a client, I commend you for the courage and vulnerability it takes to begin looking for a counselor. You have made it this far with the resilience that resides within you, and I believe you deserve the opportunity to experience the benefits that counseling has to offer.
