Hi there! I'm Blake, and I support others virtually in North Carolina through individual therapy. Let's schedule a consultation!
Counselor in Asheville, NC
With previous experience working in the college setting, I have supported many individuals in navigating the transition of attending college, entering adulthood and establishing further identity development, navigating changes in career path and relationships, and the overall ebb and flow that life presents.
As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, I feel passionate about supporting others in navigating the challenges associated with marginalization and isolation, identity development, religion and spirituality, relationships and sexuality, and gender identity and the transition process. I have experience in providing letters of support and coordinating with other providers to support trans individuals seeking transition related services.
Through individual therapy and workshops focused in psychoeducation and skill development, I have supported individuals experiencing generalized anxiety, social anxiety, illness anxiety, and other sources of anxiety, fear, and stress.
At the heart of counseling, I aim at developing therapeutic relationships with others. I believe the therapeutic relationship is crucial to your experience as a client. To build that relationship, I meet you where you're at with unconditional positive regard, empathy, genuineness, and acceptance. I believe that these components allow us, as humans, to feel safe without judgment and to be able to explore and process our experiences with another person.
With an ACT approach, I support you in developing greater awareness of your values and your relationship to your concerns. I teach skills such as mindfulness, mindful acceptance, and defusion to build psychological flexibility while we explore ways that you may take meaningful and intentional steps towards your values.
