About My Clients
I specialized in working with trauma victims (physical, emotional, and sexual abuse), victims of Domestic Violence, and War Victims. In addition, I work extensively with mood disorders, anxiety, self-esteem issues, as well as career advising and more. I work with adolescents, adults, couples, and families.
My Background and Approach
Dr. Baheia A. Derweesh completed her bachelor degree in Sociology from Birzeit University and graduate degree in Counselor Education from Northeastern Illinois University and a doctoral in education from Argosy University. Prior to joining National Lewis University, she was Student life acting chair/ Lead Counselor and lecturer at the Higher Colleges of Technology in Abu Dhabi for the past 8 years. Dr. Baheia held the position of Psychotherapist at the American Center for Psychiatry & Neurology in Abu Dhabi from 2004-2010 as well as Care & Rehabilitation Director for the Dubai Foundation for Women and Children from 2008-2009. She was the Director of clinical program at Baheia Derweesh, LCPC from 2010-2017.

I will encourage you to explore your thoughts, feelings, and fears in order to understand the obstacles you are experiencing and help you make the changes that are necessary to improve your life and your overall functioning. I will help you by providing support and utilizing teaching techniques that will improve your coping skills.
