I can help you understand your full picture. The life story, or the trauma, the symptoms, or the relationship issues, or the substance use. I help you find out what was missed: the hidden drivers, the repeating pattern, the attachment wound underneath the conflict, the defensive move that looks like “personality,” the role of desire/shame, the way your relationships and nervous system keep re-creating the same outcome. I listen deeply, but also don’t wait forever to name what is presenting.
My Background and Approach
My relational lens is informed by the Gottman Institute, the Ackerman Institute, Esther Perel, and attachment-based relationship psychology. I'm a psychiatrist who provides a variety of psychotherapies including family and couples therapy - for both traditional and non-traditional relationships. I’m also the Medical Director of an LGBTQ+ clinic and Forensic Psychiatry Practice (names on my website), however this is my private practice. I see the whole person; the biology + psychology + social + sexual + spiritual aspects. As a psychiatrist I completed 2 fellowships in Addiction; I treat both Drug and Behavioral Addictions. I am a controlled substance specialist but ethically prescribe and taper down egregious doses of controlled substance medication. I integrate psychodynamic therapy for depth, CBT & DBT for skills and emotion regulation, motivational interviewing for ambivalence and change.
