I am here for the reluctant therapy seekers. The ones who struggle with opening up. The ones who are skeptical about therapy as a whole - whether they have never tried it or they have had negative experiences in the past. If you have ever been told that you are “resistant” or “aren’t trying,” I want to hear from you. We can work at your pace towards goals that you set. If something isn’t working, you can always tell me, and we can take a new approach.
My Background and Approach
I value authenticity in the therapy office, both from me and from my clients. I don’t believe in being a blank slate. While therapy is a time to focus on you and your goals, you are always welcome to ask me any questions, and I will answer honestly. For me, positive regard is not about always telling you that you are perfect just the way you are; it is about believing that you are capable of growth. It is about believing that you are trying your best to get your needs met, just like a lot of us. I find laughter to be very therapeutic - even dark humor. If you have ever been told, “You can’t tell a therapist that!”, I want to hear it. I want therapy to be a space where we talk about the things you do not always get a chance to say out loud: anger, doubt, shame. Therapy is your time, and I want it to be something you look forward to - not something that feels like a chore. Let’s work together to make it a space that works for you.
