About My Clients
My clients come seeking clarity about the challenges they face in day to day living. With a desire to understand what drives anxiety or why they have difficulty in relationships, from loss as it relates to fertility or illness related trauma, or the challenge of parenting our own kids - these unhealed experiences bring up an intensity of emotions like none they’ve ever felt. A willingness to heal the hurt - not just learn to cope with it - drives my passion for the work.
My Background and Approach
I have extensive experience working with children - both those coming from loving homes and those who didn’t have that growing up - my knowledge of child development as a former early childhood educator informs my work with adults as I integrate parts work into the trauma focused approach I use most extensively. I am trained in EMDR, moving toward certification, and use the lens of this model in my work. I am knowledgeable about mindfulness, cognitive behavior therapies, psychodynamic approaches and developmental theories. I love neuroscience too! I am always seeking knowledge to improve my clinical skills and believe very strongly that it is my responsibility to meet each client where they are. The power of the relationship I aim to build with my clients is at the center of my approach.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in the basic right of all people to live life as authentically as they can, to do no harm, and to respect others’ choices and their ability to make them. Following the ethics of my profession, I will seek to serve clients in the best way I know how - which includes keeping space for the potential that I may not be the best fit for someone’s needs. The therapeutic relationship is an alliance with the client as the expert on themselves.
