About My Clients

My ideal client wishes to explore change, both how they will change and how they have changed already. I often work with my clients to build a sense of self that remains a safe anchor to experience the many adaptations of their lives and supports the change they experience. My specialty is LGBTQ+ clients, and I work with all ages, from older adults to children, but I have worked with and will continue to work with anyone regardless of sexual orientation!

My Background and Approach

I am a therapist from a psychodynamic perspective, which I studied at the University of Chicago School of Social Work. Most of my experience is in trauma work with adolescents and young adults, and I usually explore larger themes and patterns in my client's lives to grow understanding and a better sense of self rather than focusing on strict behavioral change. However, I still often help clients build concrete coping skills, habits, and rituals that encourage a life that allows them to live as they wish. I also often work with clients to create a life narrative and purpose that is truly their own. My specialty is trauma work with LGBTQ+ clients, and I always hope that my position within the community as a trans person brings greater empathy and understanding to my clients. I am a Licensed Social Worker in Illinois, meaning I see clients under the supervision of my supervisor who holds an LCSW.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

While my own personal beliefs never direct the therapy curated for my client, I never obscure them in practice. I am a proud member of the LBGTQ+ community, especially within the city of Chicago where I have lived my whole life. I am openly engaged in political movements in Chicago, ranging from prison abolition to economic and racial justice. Anti-capitalism is not at all a universal aspect of my practice, but discussion of capitalism and its impact upon our mental health often bears discussion when the client questions their relationship to the larger forces of society.
