About My Clients
I work with clients who are new to therapy, and I also work with clients who've tried this a few times before. Many of my clients are struggling with eating disorders or mood issues, and I specialize in the area of bariatric (weight loss) surgery. Most of my clients are interested in long-term treatment to deal with day to day symptoms and to address any underlying issues that might be contributing to how they're feeling.
My Background and Approach
My approach to change involves listening to all the parts of you, starting with the part that wants something different and better, so that we can work together to address what gets in the way. I'm a firm believer in the power of the therapeutic relationship to transform my clients' experiences of themselves, their relationships, and their lives. I have training in Modern Analytic, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Radically Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy (RODBT), and the Psychobiological Approach to Couples' Therapy (PACT). I have submitted my application for Certified Eating Disorder Specialty through IAEDP and I am in the process of completing my Intuitive Eating Counselor certification, expected January 2023. I am a weight-inclusive provider with more than 10 years of experience with eating disorders. I specialize in working with weight loss surgery clients and I run two weekly groups for this population.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
We are so, so much more than our body size and shape. Fat bodies do not need to be changed to be “good” or “healthy”. It is not anyone’s moral imperative to practice health-seeking behaviors. Fat bodies are vastly under-represented in disordered eating treatment and they need and deserve appropriate treatment.
