About My Clients
You're looking for someone who will be straight with you. You like to be educated about psychological concepts to understand and support your growth and healing inside and outside of sessions. You want someone who sees your uniqueness and helps you dissipate the shame with ways you may feel insecure or inadequate. You want your therapist to be a real person with you in session, someone who shares stories about their own experience in life if it helps you grow.
My Background and Approach
While I formally studied Transpersonal Psychology, my work with clients tends to be existential and humanistic in approach. Using your struggles or traumas in life as a platform with which to grow from is an incredibly important part of good therapy. You are not your problems, anxieties, or depression. Through cultivating or expanding your enthusiasm for personal growth, your challenges can be opportunities to open up to new ways of relating to the world around you and thus provide more peace and contentment. As a social species, we need healthy attachments to friends and partners. Learning how to work with interpersonal challenges can be some of the most rewarding aspects of being a human. I utilize mindfulness practices and pull from a variety of spiritual traditions and philosophies to help understand our experiences through a variety of lenses. There is no ONE way to know TRUTH. Let's find your intersection of freedom and destiny.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe we are inherently whole and it's the job of psychology to assist in clearing the way to your fundamental health. Trauma, indoctrination, and societal conditioning create barriers to this wholeness and health. Functioning "normally" in a sick society is not health. Society may or may not validate your way of living and being in the world.
