About My Clients
Generally, my clients are people who have experienced a traumatic event in their life and need help processing and understanding what happened. These difficult events have caused a lot of disruption in their lives and they are looking to find stability and clarity. My clients also come to see me when they are going through difficult life transitions such as relocation, job changes, ending and beginning relationships and changes in family dynamics. They may also be experiencing an identity crisis
My Background and Approach
I am a trauma-informed therapist, trained in using an evidence-based approach called Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR). If you’ve been through some form of trauma, I want to help you process your trauma and put it behind you! I do this by using bilateral stimulation or side-to-side movements. This method can help your brain process your trauma in a different way and help you replace unhelpful thoughts and feelings with more helpful ones. C. S. Lewis once said, “You can’t go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending.” Trained in Narrative and CBT approaches, I want to help you write your preferred story. I want to help you re-tell your story, do away with the parts that no longer serve you and create a narrative that better suits the life you want to live.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe all my clients have an untapped source of potential waiting to be discovered and I want to help you uncover your superpowers. You see, I’m a big fan of comics and superhero fiction. That’s because I often see the hero as someone who struggles with losses, setbacks, go on to develop character, strength and ultimately triumphs. While real life is not as dramatic and change often less abrupt and permanent, therapy can help you re-define how life has been and how you’d like to move forward. If you’re ready to change the narrative that has limited you in how you think, feel and respond to situations, schedule an appointment with me today!
