About My Clients

When we have experienced trauma or complex trauma, it can be so hard to navigate the world around us and see safety within ourselves. Sometimes our nervous system has done such an incredible job at helping us survive, that it can be difficult to teach our nervous systems that they don't have to work so hard all the time. As a therapist, I love to watch my clients learn to integrate safely back into their bodies, and become empowered to feel that they can cope with big emotions and dysregulation.

My Background and Approach

I earned my Masters of Social Work from the University of Tennessee in 2020, and did my clinical training at the Sexual Assault Center, where I have worked as a therapist since 2021. I come from a social work background steeped in trauma-informed, client-centered approaches to connection and therapy, having worked in the field of homeless outreach for many years prior to becoming a therapist. I feel it's so important for me to really zoom out on a person's life to see the whole picture of what makes each of us so uniquely adapted to the world around us. I also commit to showing up to sessions as a person first, therapist second. My style is relational and casual, I am not your traditional blank slate therapist. I want folks to feel like they're talking to a human being who values all the nuances and intricacies of your life. No one knows you better than you know yourself, and I am grateful for the privilege of being alongside each person as they meet themselves with curiosity.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that we are all the experts on ourselves, and that we all have the capacity to heal and grow. I believe that there is immense freedom in learning how to work with each of our brain's individual needs, and that we are all deserving of meeting ourselves with compassion and curiosity. I bring to sessions not only my clinical expertise, but my own lived experiences with ADHD, anxiety, trauma, depression, and being part of the LGBTQIA2S+ community. I proudly attend my own therapy and don't ask clients to do work I haven't done myself. I am a gender affirming, sex and kink positive, and ENM affirming therapist. I am intentional to use an anti-oppressive, abolitionist, and culturally humble lens with all of my clients.
