Clinical Social Worker in Wilmington, NC

About My Clients

I specialize in working with teens (16+) and adults navigating anxiety, depression, parenting stress, fertility challenges, life transitions, and self-esteem concerns. My ideal clients are those seeking a safe, supportive space to process their emotions, build resilience, and reconnect with themselves. I especially value supporting folks experiencing the emotional toll of infertility and helping them find compassion and balance through mindful, holistic care.

My Background and Approach

I’m Sarah Ritenour, MSW, LCSW. I hold a Master of Social Work degree and have specialized training in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), integrating mind-body practices into therapy to help clients manage stress, anxiety, and emotional overwhelm. My experience includes supporting people through depression, life transitions, parenting challenges, and the complex emotions tied to fertility struggles and infertility. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and therapeutic horticulture to create a grounded, compassionate space for healing. My goal is to meet clients where they are, helping them feel understood, supported, and empowered to move forward in life. I offer both in-person and virtual sessions and am in-network with Aetna (including SHP), BCBS, UHC, Meritain and Cigna.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe therapy should be a safe, affirming space where people feel seen, respected, and supported as their authentic selves. I’m passionate about helping people navigate life’s challenges with compassion and understanding, particularly during times of transition or uncertainty. I value inclusivity and strive to create a welcoming environment for people of all identities, including members of the LGBTQIA+ community. My approach is rooted in empathy, mindfulness, and a belief in the power of connection and self-discovery to foster healing and growth. I’m also committed to supporting causes that promote mental health awareness, reproductive health access, and social justice, and I bring these values into my work with clients every day.
