About My Clients
I specialize in working with adults with childhood trauma, and also see many individuals who are struggling with existential and spiritual concerns in their lives. My clients are often individuals who are needing something to shift in their lives, and need safe space to be able to relearn to trust, explore, and expand.
My Background and Approach
As an Art Therapist, Transpersonal Counselor, and EMDR practitioner, I believe in taking a multimodal and eclectic approach to treating trauma and life transitions. It is very important to me to address all aspects of an individual: sensory, movement, symbolic, cognitive and spiritual. I like to combine verbal discussion, art processing, sand tray therapy, and EMDR when appropriate with clients to work with all of these internal dynamics. I received my Master's Degree from Naropa University in Transpersonal Counseling and Art Therapy, and am continually seeking more training to keep my practices current. I have training in EMDR, Trauma-Informed Art Therapy, Play Therapy, and Sand Tray Therapy.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that the soul moves towards growth, and that sometimes we need a safe space and a compassionate witness for this journey. I support individuals of all gender identities, sexual orientations, race and ethnicity, and physical ability. While I cannot claim to be an expert on racial and systemic oppression, I can promise that I study the issue on a regular basis, and work hard to challenge myself to look outside my own old belief systems. I am married to an acupuncturist and Chinese herbalist, and we often provide integrated care when appropriate.
