About My Clients

My Background and Approach
I always knew I wanted to work with kids when I grew up, which is why I LOVE being a play therapist. I utilize Child-Centered Play Therapy, an evidence-based approach that empowers children to develop self-regulation, self-control, and self-esteem. I also have years of experience working with neurodivergent folks and people with intellectual and developmental disorders and prioritize a holistic approach that affirms their full experience of life. Additionally, I love working with foster/adoptive families on strengthening relationships, creating safety, mitigating the effects of trauma, and processing the grief that comes along with being a member of a foster/adoptive family.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that we all intrinsically know what's best for us, but throughout our lives we all pick up messages that say, “I am only lovable if …”. These messages cause us to experience discomfort when we feel ourselves as we truly are does not line up with who we believe we must be in order to be accepted. With this perspective in mind, I will work with you to develop a relationship characterized by genuineness, warm acceptance, and understanding so that you will increase your understanding and acceptance of yourself and others and increase your ability to cope with the stresses of life. I believe that everyone is deserving of effective and affirming care and that social justice is core to the practice of counseling. As such, I strive to use my positions of privilege to continually advocate for others and to always be increasing my cultural humility and awareness.
