About My Clients
As humans, we are constantly being influenced and influencing the world around us. As a result, we develop patterns to cope with our environment that may not serve us in the long run. My ideal client is someone who is wanting to explore the way their family, their relationships, and society at large have influenced them and is trying to re-learn how to be their most authentic self. Please note: I primarily use email for initial correspondence.
My Background and Approach
My clinical experience is working primarily with teens and adults with PTSD, anxiety, mood disorders, and other mental health concerns. I have received advanced training in using mindfulness and other body based coping strategies to assist you on your healing journey. I have experience working with trans and gender non-conforming individuals and assisting them with accessing gender affirming care. My approach consists of starting with a a comprehensive assessment to help me gain an understanding of not only your mental health struggles, but of your values and who you are as a person. Collaboratively we will work to explore your strengths, current coping patterns, and your current relationship with your emotions to help you reach your goals.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I operate from a social justice framework, which means that I believe its important to acknowledge and explore how oppressive systems have impacted how you see yourself in the world. As a therapist, I believe its crucial that I continue to evaluate and face my own privileged and oppressed identities, and be aware of how they may show up in the therapy room. This is crucial if I am going to create a therapy room that is safe for all. I believe that black lives matter, all bodies deserve to be treated with respect regardless of size and health status, people should be allowed to love who they love without fearing for their safety, people should be able to express their gender in whatever way is congruent to them, and deserve access to care, and no one with a uterus should be forced to carry a fetus they do not want.
