About My Clients
Therapy can help a person process troubling and traumatic events that occurred in the past. Counseling can help a person cope with recent upsetting events, such as the death of a loved one, or a sudden transition/loss, such as a relationship breakup. The motives for someone seeking therapy are as unique as the person seeking therapy. Some people desire to process past unresolved issues. Sometimes, people feel like they repeat patterns or are stuck in a situation and don't know what to do next.
My Background and Approach
I predominantly provide Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS). My approach is to partner with clients, helping them unburden themselves from extreme beliefs, troubling thoughts, and intense emotions to help them move through life with greater ease and grace. Also, when I believe there is a need, I can apply several other therapeutic modalities I am trained in (cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), family systems therapy, sand tray, play therapy, and strategic therapy).
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As people go through life, they face challenges and learn to cope with them the best they can; this has been true for me. Sometimes, a person will develop beliefs and ways of thinking that were once helpful earlier in their life when coping with life events and challenges. Still, now, in the present, these beliefs and ways of thinking aren't working for them as they once did, giving rise to both complex inner and relational conflicts. By applying focused attention and curiosity, developing grace for themselves, and getting to know these beliefs and patterns, a person can begin to adapt to the present and heal from past wounds.
