About My Clients
I focus on treating trauma, relationship issues, and addiction through the lens of Attachment. Attachment is all about learning how survival strategies that kept us safe in childhood hurt us as adults. I will help you forgive your inner child, and from there, you will heal, and learn ways to develop safe and healthy relationships moving forward.
My Background and Approach
In my time as a therapist, I’ve worked in various settings, including hospitals, rehabs, and a family shelter. I’m currently under the supervision of Dr. Arlene Montgomery, LCSW-S. I’ve spent time working at the highest levels of care, so I know what it looks like for people to really hit “rock bottom” which gives me an appreciation for how well my clients are doing, even if they don’t feel that way. As a therapist, I specialize in attachment-based therapy through a trauma-informed model. The core of my work is helping clients understand how the strategies they used to keep themselves safe in childhood, now come to haunt them as adults. I can then use that information to come up with new strategies to help my clients move towards being securely attached by building self-esteem, having healthier relationships, and forgiving the past.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a queer Uruguayan-American, I have experience with and do fantastic work with the immigrant and LGBTQ+ communities, as well as with people in recovery. My Hispanic identity shows in my appreciation of family and community. My queer identity is visible in the way I celebrate identity and self-expression! I have both my bachelor’s and master’s in clinical Social Work. If you're curious to learn more, please reach out!
