About My Clients
I work with clients ages 18 and up. A lot of the clients I see often struggle with their emotions, are very critical and judgmental of themselves, and they often do things to try to regulate their emotions that simply do not work or tend to make things worse. We, as humans, often want to avoid feeling uncomfortable. The clients I see may lack certain skills, from how to regulate emotions, how to accept or be present in the moment, how to communicate, or how to organize and plan.
My Background and Approach
I strive to create a nonjudgmental environment, and I help clients to be able to do the same for themselves. Judgments often do not help and can often make people feel worse about themselves. My hope is to help people look at their emotions and behaviors in a more psychological or functional way. It is important for people to learn to accept themselves and their emotions, thoughts, and behaviors, making room for being uncomfortable; while also learning to regulate or change behaviors when it is needed to do so. I incorporate mindfulness and coping skills into therapy. I also specialize in treating PTSD and ADHD. I use evidence-based therapies to specifically target these diagnoses. For PTSD, I provide Prolonged Exposure. For ADHD, I provide CBT.
