About My Clients
Many people carry questions about themselves or their lives that don’t have easy or immediate answers. Some people come to therapy because a significant event or stressor has disrupted their life. These significant events or stressors may look like receiving a medical diagnosis, aging, disability, grief, relationship issues, having a child, perinatal mood disorders, etc. While others may feel a general dissatisfaction with their life, struggling to identify why.
My Background and Approach
My experience in various mental health and medical settings has given me the opportunity to support people across many different ages and stages of life. In particular, I have extensive experience working with individuals and families who have survived traumatic experiences and/or have a history of abuse. I specialize in working with most presentations of trauma (PTSD, CPTSD, dissociative disorders, etc.) as well as depression, and anxiety. My primary therapeutic approach is psychodynamic, with a focus on helping people gain deeper insight into their inner world and life experiences. I also have formal training and ongoing consultation in several evidence-based modalities, which I integrate thoughtfully depending on each person’s needs: EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Interpersonal Psychotherapy, Child-Parent Psychotherapy.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My practice focuses on helping people understand and move through their experiences, emotions, and desires- or lack thereof. Separating who we are or want to be from how we have been made to feel in the past by others or circumstances. This clarity of separation can help us be more present in the here and now as well as aid us in consciously choosing our path forward.
