About My Clients

I love working with people as they discover how to effectively work through challenging emotions and become more active participants in their own lives. It can be a difficult process, especially if you have been living on “autopilot” or are struggling to manage daily tasks. Many of my clients have trauma histories and may not have an understanding of how their lived experiences impact them emotionally or physically . Regardless of history, focusing on symptom relief is a crucial first step.

My Background and Approach

I previously worked in an IOP/PHP facility, where I had the opportunity to work with folx struggling with a variety of mood disorders. I strive to discover more details about what may lie beneath the present issues and include an exploration of how the mind and body are connected. I managed the Dialectical Behavior Therapy program and bring a DBT-informed perspective, which lends itself well to symptom relief while seeking broader systemic life changes. Before obtaining my MSW, I worked extensively with survivors of sexual trauma, including survivors of childhood sexual abuse, which continues to be a focus of my practice. I also work extensively with members of the LGBTQ community. Therapy is an vulnerable process and a strong therapeutic relationship is key to building change. To that end, I always encourage prospective clients to reach out with any questions or concerns. This is a reciprocal relationship and transparency is key!

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I have years of personal and professional experience with understanding the impacts of mental health challenges. These impacts ripple out, often through generations, and can take time to shift. However, I fervently believe in the human capacity for change. Initially, awareness is key to understanding our own wants and needs. In my own life, I continue to find that a mindfulness practice, formal or informal, opens the door to more fully understanding and accepting ourselves and those around us, while also working to implement changes. I’m a member of the LGBTQ community and am an advocate of the importance of chosen family. Who we surround ourselves with directly reflects and impacts our mental health. I also always examine the structural forces that impact physical and emotional health and strive for active anti-racism. Although the world can be overwhelming, I seek the beauty and joy that can be found. To that end, I love to cook, play with my dog, and watch women’s soccer!
