EMDR is a method of treatment that I attained certification in. This includes Levels 1 and 2 certification and many hours of supervision of cases, beyond levels 1 and 2. I use this method every day in my practice because it is so effective, and takes less time, than talk therapy alone. It is a body based therapy, meaning that it is not only a cognitive processing, but also a processing that includes body sensations and responses to trauma and safety.

I have specialized in trauma therapy since graduate school. I have worked in a residential treatment center for people who have been through trauma, I did original research in graduate school on trauma, and am a CCTP (Certified Clinical Trauma Professional) Level II. I use many modalities to heal from trauma, and help trauma survivors create a life worth living. I treat complex trauma (like ongoing relational trauma), and single incident trauma (like an event that happened).

I am a certified therapist and supervisor (of other therapists) of Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, Emotionally Focused Family Therapy and Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy. I undertook study of EFT and it changed the way I practice therapy, and how I enter into relationship. I am committed to this model because it works.

I have been treating couples intensively since 2009. I am a certified Emotionally Focused Couples Therapist and Supervisor. I teach other therapists how to do couples therapy and am committed to helping couples heal and regain connection. I work with entrenched patterns of conflict, and withdrawal as well as deep emotional injuries such as affairs or other kinds of betrayals. I offer weekly sessions and longer formats such as Jump Starts and Intensives.

I work with Complex PTSD and PTSD. Complex PTSD occurs as a result of ongoing, repeated experiences of traumatic events and / or relationships. Most often this occurs in childhood, but sometimes in adulthood too.

I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional Level II. This model integrates somatic work, IFS, and is neurologically informed. I have done original research on complex trauma and have treated traumatized people in in-patient and out-patient settings. I work with complex trauma (such as repeated, ongoing trauma, often in childhood), and single incident traumas (such as catastrophic events, or accidents). In addition to the methods listed here, I also use EMDR and brainspotting to treat trauma.

When I work with people I pay close attention to attachment wounding and styles. Repairing relationships with others and self is vital to healing. With couples I work to calm negative patterns around withdrawal and conflict, as well as healing emotional wounds such as affairs or other betrayals. I work with adult families to heal and strengthen relationships.
