About My Clients
I work with individuals searching for a way out of depression, anxiety, grief, and/or trauma, whether it stems from childhood, or comes about later as the result of navigating life changes and hardships. Whether you are feeling overloaded, experiencing discrimination or oppression, dealing with economic injustices, living in grief, or surviving past or present trauma—you have complex and unique experiences that deserve a personal focus.
My Background and Approach
If you have ignored your own needs for too long and are just plain tired of being tired, miserable, and in pain, let’s talk. My goal is to help you gain insight into your personal challenges to build healthy tools that work with your specific struggles. In session, you are safe with someone who sees you for you, is not judgmental, approaches you with kindness and respect, listens and speaks genuinely, is empathetic yet direct, brings in humor, and collaborates with you on concrete, lasting tools for your mental health. The core of my training—and being—is to meet you where you are and be real with you. I am also currently working toward EMDR certification, an approach to mental health that helps heal trauma or other distressing life experiences.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Humans are incredibly insightful and resilient. I believe therapy has the power to effect lasting, transformational change. I am committed to culturally-sensitive, inclusive, and holistic counseling practices, and believe that you are the expert in you. And while I no longer put two spaces after a period when I type, I still love the Oxford comma as much as I love fried green tomatoes, strawberry ice cream, and guacamole. (See what I did there?!?)
