About My Clients
Many of the people I work with are used to carrying a lot on their own. They often appear capable on the outside while privately feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure of where life or their relationships are headed. I particularly enjoy working with adolescents, athletes, high performers, couples, and people navigating disability, complex medical conditions, major life transitions, anxiety, identity development, and relationship challenges.
My Background and Approach
I view each person as the expert on their own experience and believe people are naturally suited to guide themselves toward a meaningful life. Sometimes relational wounds, systemic pressures, biological factors, or developmental circumstances make it hard to trust that inner direction. My role is to create a space where clients feel safe, understood, and supported as they explore what matters most to them. I work from a person-centered approach, which means I view the relationship as the most important part of counseling. Real change happens when we can be genuine, curious, and open together. My hope is that clients leave our work with a stronger sense of self-trust and a life that feels more balanced and true to who they are. My approach is primarily insight-oriented, helping clients deepen self-understanding and awareness as a foundation for meaningful action.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe most behaviors make sense when understood in context. Patterns that now feel limiting may once have helped someone stay safe, maintain connection, meet expectations, or navigate difficult circumstances. Rather than asking, “What is wrong with you?” I am more interested in asking, “What happened, what did you need, and how did you learn to respond?” Mental health is shaped not only by individual choices, but also by relationships, family history, culture, identity, biology, resources, and the systems people live within. Therapy should make room for these influences without reducing someone to a diagnosis. I value compassion, personal agency, and curiosity. I welcome clients across identities, backgrounds, relationship structures, and belief systems. You do not need to share my worldview for us to work well together. My responsibility is to approach your life with humility, remain aware of my assumptions, and help you define what healing and a meaningful life look like.
