About My Clients
You (or your teen) may be hesitant to ask for help. You prefer to figure things out on your own terms and value being competent and independent, never a burden. You identify as a hard-worker, hold yourself to a high standard and yet never feel like you're doing "enough". Maybe you've always been sensitive and feel things deeply, even when the world around you doesn't recognize or understand your depth. Perhaps you identify as neurodivergent (ADHD, Gifted, HSP, 2e) or suspect that you may be?
My Background and Approach
I specialize in working with highly sensitive (HSP) and ADHD folks, to access deeper, more authentic understanding of yourself and your relationships. You can expect to be treated as a unique, whole-person, who likely doesn't respond to or resonate with one-size-fits-all suggestions. Your relationships, family system, environment and neurotype shape your experiences and deserve as much care and attention as the symptoms and behaviors that bring you into therapy. My approach is relational; clients often describe feeling warmth, acceptance and honesty in therapy with me. Many neurodivergent folks experience years of shame and isolation trying to exist in a world that is not created with diversity in mind. This can be a space where you start to understand what you truly need to live a fulfilling, authentic life with someone who get it personally and clinically!
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
While therapy gets to be about you the client, I'm open to answer any questions that might make it easier for you to connect or open up with a potential therapist. I understand that we all exist within broader systems, and I don't shy away from exploring the impact of race, socio-economic status, identity, politics, etc. that show in the therapy room and impact safety and well-being as well.
