About My Clients

Throughout my training and professional experiences as a clinician, I have worked with clients with different ethnic backgrounds and socioeconomic status. My passion is working with adults, college students, people of color and immigrants who are interested in exploring their identities, navigating life transitions, and relationship dynamics through building a trusting therapeutic relationship.

My Background and Approach

I approach sessions with openness, authenticity, and without judgment as I aim to help my clients find ways of living a fulfilling life that aligns with their truth and their core values. I am psychodynamically trained and have focused much of my learning and clinical practice within a social justice framework. I obtained my BA from UMASS Amherst and my MSW from Smith College School of Social Work. Before moving to the US, I lived and studied in China, Hong Kong, and Singapore. Therefore both Eastern and Western philosophies and values influence and inform my perspectives and the integrative approaches that I bring to my work. My clinical interests include Narrative therapy, Acceptance Commitment therapy, Dialectic Behavioral therapy, Trauma informed therapy, Acculturation stress, Social justice issues, Identity development and International students. I am also fluent in Chinese (Mandarin, Cantonese and Fuzhounese).

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

Growing up in a traditional Chinese family who believed in Buddhism, Confucianism and a combination of folk beliefs. I learned about Christianity when I attended a Christian-based all girls secondary school in Hong Kong. I was later baptized when I went back to Hong Kong to work for a short period of time after completing college in the US. Aside from work and raising a family, I practice self care by enjoying nature and outdoor walking, getting a deep tissue massage/cupping therapy, visiting friends and family in NYC and enjoying authentic Chinese and Asian food, including Hong Kong-style milk tea and pineapple bun.
