Trauma (or formally named as PTSD) comes in all shapes and seizes. Clients I work with tend to have some form of early childhood trauma including emotional trauma (your emotional needs were ignored, made fun of, not acknowledged, chastised, or not fully met). As adults, trauma from childhood tends to show up as shame based beliefs about ourselves that we are undeserving of love, connection, joy, or attention. My trauma informed work with clients focuses on rewiring those belief systems.

We all have self-esteem, and we often seek therapy if that inner voice is overly harsh, critical, or keeps us from engaging in relationships the way we'd like. My work with clients focuses on understanding and observing these self-beliefs that impact our self-esteem, then moving towards self-compassion and self-acceptance as we are (imperfect and flawed, but still worthy of love and belonging).

Anxiety can feel like a vague word but can be so debilitating in your day-to-day functioning. Overthinking, ruminating thoughts, worst-case-scenario planning, hyper-vigilance, worrying, or focusing on others' needs instead of your own (and more!). Regardless of how your anxiety shows up, my work with clients involves a lot of learning and practicing coping skills to help manage the intensity of this emotion.
