About My Clients

I understand the complexities of the healing process and the importance of being able to authentically share your story. My clients are free to be themselves and are wholly accepted in the therapy room. Come as you are! We will work on self-acceptance and understanding your unique traits and identity, as opposed to trying to "fix" or change you. It is important to note that I also work well with neurodivergent clients and those with histories of social exclusion and oppression.

My Background and Approach

My experience includes more than 15 years working in community based programs and government agencies (mobile mental health crisis unit, domestic violence program, VA medical center, inpatient psychiatric services, and medical social work). I have been in private practice since 2018. I specialize in assessing and treating symptoms of anxiety, depression, neurodevelopmental disorders (ADHD and Level 1 Autism) and trauma. I understand how traumatic experiences impact a person's mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being. The mind-body connection is a powerful relationship that will be explored in therapy. Therapeutic interventions include working on regaining your life and creating a more adaptive meaning and understanding of your past experiences. We will work on building resiliency and confidence, managing symptoms and developing new neural pathways that influence more positive experiences.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I have lived experience and some understanding of what it means to be wired differently! Rather than focusing on what is wrong, therapy will provide space for an in depth analysis and understanding of your strengths and uniqueness, as well as recognizing societal expectations and conditioning. I provide a framework to examine the impact from social and systemic inequalities rooted in discrimination and prejudices (racism, sexism, classism, and more) . Therapy is effortful and challenging work. Learning to tolerate some of the short-term discomfort essentially leads to the development of meaningful long-term goals. I support, respect and honor differing values and deeply held beliefs. Many of my clients share that they feel safe and accepted in our work together. Come as you are.
