About My Clients
Have you been holding it all together for far too long? Maybe you have different faces you show each part of your world and none of them really feel right anymore. You might be experiencing symptoms of anxiety or depression or have trauma that has gone unaddressed. And, you're looking for a place to put all of that down. To figure out how the skills you have used in the past to survive are keeping you from the life you want to live. To live into who you are in a more real and authentic manner.
My Background and Approach
I am over this societal version of perfection that we are all supposed to attain. I won’t help you get there. I will sit with you while you learn to accept who you are. All of your perfect imperfections. I believe in you. I can provide you with techniques to help you gain access and insight to finding answers to the questions within yourself. I cannot give you the answers - you are the one who knows how to live the life you are living. Mindfulness is one of the key tenants of my practice. It is so helpful to get to a place where you can pay attention to what is happening in the moment without judgment. I also utilize tenants of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy where the main idea is that two seemingly opposite ideas can be held at the same time. Creativity is an important part of the healing process and I love to write, paint, collage, etc. with clients. The heart of my practice is being trauma responsive which helps you to gain a felt sense of safety within yourself and the world.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that people have a deep desire and need to be seen, heard, and held and that we heal in relationship with others. I believe that change and healing are possible and sometimes incremental and it is important to have a person (me!) in your corner to help you pay attention differently. I believe in you and the possibilities you want for yourself. Some interesting tidbits about me are that I love spending time outside both solo and with my people, a warm cup of coffee grounds (haha) me and soothes my soul, writing has quite possibly helped me find my own freedom more times than I can count (so when I suggest it to you, know that I’ve done it myself), I exclaim “look at the moon!” whenever the cloud cover clears enough to make it possible to see at whatever phase it is in (there’s a metaphor for life in there somewhere), and I am 100% human – perfectly imperfect and flawed – a lot like you.
