About My Clients
Night Sky Therapy specializes in helping clients find their way in the world by collaborating to gain an understanding of healthy sexuality, to gain tools and increase understanding of compulsive behavior(s), and move closer to their values in order to move closer to their most plentiful life all within a decolonization/feminist lens.
My Background and Approach
I am a graduate of Lewis & Clark College which has a strong social justice framework throughout the training. I am currently licensed in the state of Oregon as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor I (CADC I). My approach is eclectic and pulls from several theories including interpersonal neurobiology (how communities/relationships change our brain), acceptance & commitment therapy, person-center/humanistic, decolonizing, feminist, and existential. There are also splashes of DBT, gestalt, harm-reduction. This practice strives to make this a sex-positive, trauma-informed, kink-affirming, safe place for LGBTQIA2+, ‘alternative’ relationships, and marginalized communities.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
In the values work I have done my top core values are authenticity, adventurousness, open-mindedness, connectedness, and growth. I have provided therapy in many settings including drug court, crisis, with people who have sexually offended, severe mental illness, and academic settings. My realizations from working in these settings are that there is a lot of radical change that needs to happen to have any system that is healthy/helpful to us as complex humans. I don't try to "fix" clients because clients are not broken, the systems are.
