About My Clients
I provide individual therapy to adults only. I have experience working with those with chronic illness, chronic pain, grief and loss, first responders (EMS, fire department, dispatch, search and rescue), those in the medical community, survivors of physical, emotional, and sexual abuse, survivors of sexual assault, those whom have experienced traumatic events still impacting their functioning, and those with complex trauma, dissociative identity disorder, and other dissociative responses.
My Background and Approach
I graduated in 2005 with a master’s degree in social work from Colorado State University. I have advanced training in EMDR, Somatic Trauma Therapy, mindfulness, nature based (eco) therapy, yoga, trauma sensitive yoga, chronic pain, and addictions. I support my clients in building awareness of nervous system responses to stress, developing both maintenance practices and on the spot interventions to shift the body back to a place of felt safety and regulation. Experientially I guide clients through relating to emotions and felt sense in the body with curiosity and acceptance. Root causes of patterns, behaviors, and internal states are identified and addressed using EMDR, ego state work, nature-based interventions, yoga therapy, and mindfulness practices. Principles of resilience are cultivated through exploration of tools to restore hope, connect to creativity, foster connections, and build upon self-efficacy.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe we all have a wholeness and genuineness within that can be reconnected with to foster resilience, strength, and vulnerability. I support others in seeing that things that are viewed as obscurations to this innate nature have had a functional capacity within our life experiences. I use a system lens in exploring how our beliefs, identities, and experiences have been molded by our family of origin, religious and educational experiences, and messages from the wider culture. In my own healing and self-discovery, I have relied upon a daily meditation practice, spiritual retreat, principles of Buddhist psychology, EMDR and Internal Family Systems therapy, shamanic journeying and breathwork practices, and nature-based depth work such as vision quests and solo excursions. In my free time I enjoy time with family and friends, gardening, yoga, running or hiking with my australian shepherd, reading, traveling, and creating.
