We all experience anxiety to some extent, but anxiety can quickly go from a quiet noise in the background to an all out overwhelming feeling that only seems to grow when given attention. I have worked with numerous individuals who have wrestled with anxiety and the accompanying thoughts that fuel these emotions. I will work with you to understand how anxiety shows up for you, how to recognize the signs before they become overwhelming, and how to quiet your mind and slow down the emotions.

When dealing with addiction, there is no instant solution or magic pill that will make the problem disappear. Working to resolve struggles in a private setting, where what you share is confidential. We will work together to take back your life, set healthy boundaries and learn coping skills to sustain lasting change. I particularly enjoy working with individuals who are exploring their relationship to substance use, or who are in early recovery.

Many years of experience in the substance abuse treatment field have provided me with a good understanding of addiction and recovery. I have worked in inpatient and outpatient substance use treatment centers throughout my career as a therapist. I am also skilled at helping people with co-occurring mental health and substance use issues. I can help you because I’ve been there. I’m in long-term recovery from addiction, and I know the courage it takes to recover.

I have been utilizing CBT throughout my 20-year career to help people identify and challenge their cognitive distortions negatively impacting their day to day interactions, decisions, and self-esteem. Once people have the skill to identify and challenge their automatic thoughts, they can often do this independently and feel a sense of relief.
