My Background and Approach
Therapy with me is relational, reflective, and deeply collaborative. I don’t sit above you as an expert—I walk beside you as we co-create understanding and growth. My work is grounded in: Narrative therapy & story-based healing ACT, DBT, and Internal Family Systems (IFS) Creative arts therapies & psychodynamic work A systems-based, anti-oppressive, trauma-informed lens I pay close attention to the cultural and historical contexts of your suffering. You are not a problem to be fixed—you are a person with a story worth honoring, reshaping, and expanding. At the core of my practice is a reparative lens: I believe in the healing potential of joy, play, and resilience—not just surviving, but finding ways to thrive.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in the fundamental ability of everyone to be the author of their own life (though we are, of course also impacted by others). I affirm that everyone should aim to live in a way that is congruent with their own values and that effective change helps to better align people's actions with said values/ways of conceptualizing meaning. Through my own therapy I began to ask difficult questions of myself and what role anxiety served in my life. Through pondering these questions, I came to realize the protective role anxiety had sheltering me from anticipated shame. I want to help ease you into this difficult self-reflection that can lead you to new ways of conceptualizing yourself and embodying experiences (even traumatic ones). I am deeply committed to diversity and meeting people where they are. I affirm these values through scholarship, activism, and education. I also contend that dogs are our better selves.
