About My Clients
My ideal client is a teen, young adult or couple who is having difficulty managing emotions or finding meaningful connection with family, friends or partners. Many of my clients grew up in emotionally invalidating homes, learning that it’s not safe to express their feelings or needs, leaving them to cope by self-medicating, self-destructive behaviors, and repeating dysfunctional patterns. I have extensive experience with anxiety, social anxiety, depression, Bipolar and attachment issues.
My Background and Approach
Although my work is eclectic as I draw from several therapeutic approaches (like CBT, DBT, EFT, Psychodynamic…), I am primarily an attachment therapist. I will work with you on identifying your attachment style, based on your childhood experiences and relationships with parents. I will show you how your attachment style is affecting your ability to regulate your emotions, to control your impulses, and to securely connect with others. You will learn how to be self-compassionate, more vulnerable, less avoidant, more expressive, more comfortable in your own skin. You will learn to find meaningful connections instead of repeating dysfunctional and toxic relationship patterns learned in childhood or through traumatic experiences.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a non-judgmental therapist who teaches my clients to be non-judgmental of themselves and their emotions. I believe that spirituality, community and healthy relationships are an asset to mental health… and that addictions are often a substitute for real connection… and that hope, healing, purpose and meaning are available to anyone who seeks them. I am a public speaker who speaks to youth groups and women’s groups about spirituality, mental health, and relationship issues.
