About My Clients
One of the hardest things for us to do is to ask for support and tell ourselves that we can use some help in our lives. Ignoring, repressing and simply not letting it breathe, our anxiety, depression, trauma, and pain can feel overwhelming and sometimes impossible to manage. My belief is that the relationship we have with ourselves is the most important one. I am here to collaborate, support, and walk with you along this journey to living a life you deserve and are worthy of.
My Background and Approach
Mary spent over six years working with children and families who were involved in the Child Welfare Services in various capacities. Through this type of work, Mary has seen how unresolved and unaddressed childhood traumas impact people as adults, the relationships they have, and the choices and decisions they make. The work Mary did within CWS informs how she works with her clients, coming from a strengths-based approach, and believing that people deep inside know what they need. Additionally, Mary also has experience in working with individuals coming from diverse cultural, religious, sexual orientations, and national backgrounds. Mary comes from a culturally responsive lenses and sees her clients’ cultural backgrounds as significant strengths in their lives, whether they are experiencing depression, anxiety, PTSD, trauma, and/or relationship issues. Mary has received training in many areas from diverse modalities.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that everyone is deserving to live to their potential regardless of what they have experienced. What has happened to us does not represent all of who we are - it is simply a part of our story. I believe in owning our story, the good, the bad and the ugly. As a first generation Asian-American, daughter of refugees, I have seen firsthand how unresolved issues, even those going back to birth, can stay with us if there isn't a place to go. I am passionate about identity and race issues, perinatal and postpartum, overcoming trauma, shame and building resilience while all owning who we are. Mental health, to me, is well-being.
