About My Clients

Do you live in a constant state of 'waiting for the other shoe to drop'? Whether it's bracing for the next meltdown or the heavy silence of a young adult who can't seem to find their way, I know that feeling of being perpetually on edge. You’ve likely felt the tightness in your chest as you navigate parent-teen conflicts or the quiet heartbreak of watching ADHD, depression, or anxiety stall your child’s transition to independence. You don’t have to parent from a place of fear anymore.

My Background and Approach

We will look at the 'neuroscience of behavior'—addressing what is going on in the brain when your teen or young adult feels paralyzed by anxiety or ADHD. By combining CBT to manage thoughts and Collaborative Problem Solving to build missing skills, you will gain the resilience needed to handle future challenges. I have spent years training in these modalities so that you don’t just 'survive' the week—you gain the tools to help your child launch into a confident, independent future. We’ll address what is actually happening in the brain when a child or young adult is overwhelmed, helping you move from a place of fear to a place of calm resilience.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that everyone—regardless of age—wants to succeed. One of the core principles of my work is a simple but transformative truth: people do well if they can. I don't believe in "limitless" capacity in a vacuum; I believe that when the expectations placed upon us outweigh our current skills, we get stuck. In the world of Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS), we don't see "failure to launch" or challenging behaviors as "bad" choices or unhealthy learned habits to be punished. Instead, we see them as lagging skills—often in the areas of flexibility, frustration tolerance, and problem-solving. These aren't "faulty" behaviors; they are the brain’s way of coping when it doesn't yet have the tools to do better.
