I am trained in CBT-E which focuses specifically on eating disorders and interrupting the cycle. Eating disorder come from a number of different areas but often has an origination in not feeling comfortable with ourselves. While this may seem very obvious, exploring deeper into that path that led to disordered eating can be necessary for ongoing health and enjoyment in life. We will work on improving nutrition while also working on our perception of self.

People who experience a traumatic event often feel very isolated and alienated. The world and relationships become unsafe and the need to self-protect becomes such a large voice, that it leads to overprotection and loss of fulfillment in life. Whether your experience seems minor to others is irrelevant because it was major to you. Since 2013, I have worked with individuals who have experienced trauma and trauma related disorders.

Sexual abuse and assault can lead individuals to feel alienated and fearful that they have no one to support them. Often, when someone feels comfortable enough to share the experience, the response that is received is not usually the one that is hoped for or helpful. I have been privileged to work with individuals who have been assaulted and abused and have been invited to help them on their path of growth since 2013.

CBT is the process of understanding the relationship between our thoughts, behaviors, and emotions. I have worked collaboratively with clients throughout the years to identify not only what the problem is, but what is motivating the continuation of it that we may not be aware of. Oftentimes, we continue to act in a certain way because that was how we have always responded. CBT is an excellent approach to disrupt the cycle and form a new way of living.

I am certified in DBT treatment and have used this approach to help people understand how two things can be true and opposite at the same time. Many forms of stress are the result of trying to reconcile two very different truths. DBT has been excellent in the treatment of personality disorders, especially with Borderline, and finding a way to improve our lifestyles while recognizing our role can be an incredible part of the journey.

I am certified in trauma related treatment approaches as a result of my extensive experience in working with survivors of physical, sexual, emotional, and psychological abuse and neglect. In addition, I have also worked with people who have experienced trauma related to the loss of lifestyle and basic needs, such as housing or employment. Trauma is defined by you.
