About My Clients
I have experience and great interest in working with Asian American individuals, other BIPOC communities, grief related to COVID-19, formerly incarcerated/ justice impacted people, LGBTQIA+ folx, college students, and undocumented individuals. Most of my clients come in with an intention to work on something specific, but sometimes we spend our time together exploring needs that we did not know before. Sometimes, clients just come in knowing that they need some kind of help.
My Background and Approach
As an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor, I use a person-centered approach and do my best to meet you where you are at. That means I believe that you are the expert in your life and I’m here to help you move through it without any judgment or biases. Whether it be depression, anxiety, grief, relationships, or difficult life transitions, we’ll collaborate together to help you be you. I also use a trauma-informed lens and borrow techniques/interventions from several therapies including Cognitive Behavioral (CBT), Brief Psycho-dynamic, Emotions-Focused, Solutions- Focused, Motivational Interviewing, and Attachment styles.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I identify as a Filipino American, 2nd generation immigrant, cis-gender hetero male, and use he/ him/ his for pronouns. I consider myself as an ally and advocate for marginalized communities that include BIPOC folks, LGTBQIA+, Undocumented, and working class people. As a therapist of color, I find it important people to know that therapy and professional mental health can be helpful for all types of people.
