About My Clients

My clients are committed to understanding the pain they are in and ready to begin the process of healing. Many of my clients identify themselves as "outsiders" and as a result are able to see their lives from a different prospective than the average person. As a result they are able to consider how their lives effected by the space they live in regarding race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, and class. While healing is painful all my clients are curious and courageous as they heal.

My Background and Approach

My passion is teaching specific tools to help people heal from the distress of current, past, or multi-generational trauma and any related addictions. Through a variety of therapeutic tools and over 30 years of being on the journey of healing, I can provide an atmosphere of safety and compassion to assist in expressing, understanding and healing the pain and shame of trauma and addictions; thereby transforming the legacy of pain into a legacy of healing. As a proponent of social justice, I also bring understanding of how we are shaped by community and community is shaped by us. I will support the individual in seeing a 360 degree version of themselves and the way race, gender, ability, sexual orientation and class create a multilayered effect that is unique to you. Areas of focus I specialize in are trauma, multi-generational trauma, addictions, codependency, women's issues, white culture, anti-racism, life transitions, depression and anxiety. I look forward to talking with you!

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe in the importance of understanding the power of the whole person within the intersectionality of race, gender, sexual orientation, and class, both as a therapist and with the client. As a white, heterosexual, able bodied woman my experiences on this planet largely have given me aspects of power and privilege and in other areas disempowerment. I am as committed to my own healing process from past traumas and addictions. I am also committed to understanding my own blind spots and being as authentic as I can to allow a safe place for others to grapple with their pain, shame and anger over past injustices. I believe in the power of transformation and that as individuals we can also impact and change the collective. My passions are learning, getting outside and enjoying the beauty of life, right now I am deeply committed to being a change agent in politics and I love to go to the hot springs or watch good movies and funny videos with my daughters.
