About My Clients
You're trying your best, but you still feel anxious. You want to feel present, but you're stretched thin. You're showing up for children, your partner, and/or other important relationships. It's hard to care for yourself. Maybe others see you're stressed. It feels vulnerable to contact a therapist, but you're willing to try. You want to feel better. You don't have to do this alone. Let me help you find the tools.
My Background and Approach
I am glad you’re seeking support. Experiencing anxiety can feel isolating, even when surrounded by caring people. You’ve been doing this yourself long enough. You deserve a compassionate and accepting space to address your concerns. During our first meeting, I listen carefully and ask questions to fully understand your problems and how they impact you. Then, we work together to identify useful strategies to reduce your stress and address your difficulties. My wish is that you leave my office with hope and some peace. I received my doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology from Texas Woman’s University and my master’s degree in School Psychology from Trinity University. I have worked in public education, university, community health and private practice settings over the past 20 years. I welcome diversity including all body sizes, abilities, races, sexualities, genders, and religions.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that you deserve a safe, non-judgmental and compassionate space to address your concerns. I learn about what you value. Then, we a create a map towards this valued direction. All of us (myself included!) have harsh inner critics. The inner critic shames us into thinking we are not good enough. It points out our flaws and how everyone else does it better. The keys to calming the inner critic include: mindfulness, self-compassion and courage . I want to help you cultivate them in therapy. I invite you to email or call, so we can discuss your difficulties and determine if my approach is right for you. I truly value your time and want to ensure that I am the right therapist for you prior us scheduling a session. If we determine I'm not the right fit for you, I often can offer referrals.
