About My Clients
Have you found yourself up late at night with your thoughts spinning and feeling as though you are not enough? Or maybe you've caught yourself staring at the flooring in your doctor's office and you feel numbed out. Perhaps, you are walking in the grocery store when you burst into tears because you miss them. Whether you are navigating the challenges of daily life after loss or dealing with the aftermath of a trauma, I'm here to help you take your power back & build resilience.
My Background and Approach
When we initiate work together you can expect our sessions to focus on building trust. I'll do this by being consistent, focusing on your strengths, and collaborating on what is going to work best for you. After all, you are the expert on you! Client and therapist relationship is the number one factor for success in therapy, so although I have training and background in a variety of modalities, my primary goal is making sure we are aligned and you feel safe. In our work together, you can expect to talk about your present, past, and future. We'll connect themes together, build coping skills, and really nail down how we can get you feeling your best. I will focus on using tools to regulate your nervous system, get in touch with your body, and unearth learned behaviors and messages you may have from childhood or a trauma. I value being genuine in session, so you'll hear me cuss a little and throw some humor in with your consent. My hope that together, we can build resilience.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in the innate ability in each of us to evoke change within ourselves, but also recognize how the systems in our lives directly impact our mental health. I also believe that humans are social creatures and that my job as your therapist to help you feel really seen and heard. As a cancer survivor and child of grief, I don't just practice building resilience and hope as a therapist, I have lived it. Due to these experiences, I know the power of post-traumatic growth. However, I know that does not mean we dismiss the pain or grief you might be experiencing. Toxic positivity has no place in my therapy practice. When I am not wearing my therapist hat you can find me in the kitchen, cuddled up on the couch with my two dogs, or deep in a book. I make a point to be politically informed and advocate for issues that directly affect my clients. If you want to learn more about how we can work together, reach out!
