About My Clients
Are you a brand new or well seasoned parent who is struggling with self doubt, anxiety, anger, and the relentless quest to be the parent that you want to be? Do you feel like you're trying so hard but can't quite get the hang of gentle parenting? Did you have plans for how you'd be as a parent and feel like you just keep falling short? I have been there and am eager to support others in honoring these feelings while growing into a new, more functional relationship with parenthood.
My Background and Approach
I have taken the 2-day Components of Care Course through Postpartum Support International to better inform my abilities at supporting new and expecting parents. Additionally I have worked for over 7 years supporting parents of adult children struggling with mental health challenges. I combine a mix of psychoeducation with feelings exploration and CBT and Choice Theory in order to challenge our negative self-talk, limiting beliefs, and desire to control so that we can live the lives we want. Additionally, I have almost 8 years of experience working in and supervising new clinicians in a residential mental health program which included working with individuals experiencing severe mental health crises. I also use my knowledge of the Enneagram to explore how our ingrained patterns and personality might clash or better meld with others. Clients and supervisees tell me I both warmly support you in feeling competent and capable, and challenge you to grow to your full capabilities.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I firmly believe in the strength and tenacity of the human spirit, even when you're certainly not feeling very strong or capable. The mere fact that you are seeking out therapy shows your commitment to yourself and the life you want. I deeply value the process of uncovering insights about ourselves and learning new skills when experiencing the crappy things that happen to and around us.
