About My Clients
Are you someone who is struggling with anxiety or depression? A person who is trying to juggle all of their roles and being spread thin? A trauma survivor learning to thrive? Perhaps someone trying to navigate their intersectionality of race, gender, age, or sexuality? It is my passion to work with Black women, femmes, and girls in healing from their trauma, reclaiming their wholeness, and finding peace, rest, and joy in a world that is committed to silence and erasing our experiences.
My Background and Approach
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Communications from Cleveland State University, and I earned my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Malone University. I have experience working with underserved populations across the life span, including those with disabilities, chronic illnesses, individuals in poverty, and LGBTQ+ populations. I am a trauma-informed clinician with knowledge in how trauma affects the mind, body, and soul. I use various modalities based on individual client needs, including CBT, DBT, trauma-informed CBT, mindfulness, acceptance and commitment therapy, and motivational interviewing. I am also a 200 hr certified yoga instructor, and I am currently seeking training and certifications in somatic, brain-body modalities, such as brainspotting, EFT, and internal family systems, so that I can provide my clients with a holistic approach to their treatment and healing process.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I strongly believe that while our brains and bodies learned to adapt to trauma, we can also teach our brains and bodies to adapt to safety and resilience. As a black woman who has professional experience and personal experience dealing with trauma in her life, I consider myself giving back to those who have been through their own traumas, and who look like myself. It is important to me to hold space for Black women, femmes and girls so they can find themselves, love themselves, reclaim themselves, and live life authentically on their terms. It is a act of resistance to seek out vulnerability, honesty, joy, and rest in a world that is committed to marginalizing us into nothing.
