About My Clients
As a relational therapist, I believe feeling safe and confident that your therapist is a good match for you is paramount. You can ask for consults before you begin. Ask questions that make you feel comfortable! Like: What kind of therapy do you practice? Have you worked with similar difficulties as mine? What can I expect sessions to look like? I offer a free 15-min consultation before starting with anyone interested.
My Background and Approach
My approach to therapy involves creating a safe space where you know that your concerns and challenges will be met with respect, empathy, and consideration. I value humor and transparency and use both to help enable you to express yourself free from any judgment. I believe therapy should provide an environment in which you feel free and secure to explore the motivating meanings of your behaviors, thoughts, and emotions. My role as your therapist is not to “tell you what to do” but rather to empower you to uncover insight and intuition that reconnect you to your own inner authority. Therapy can re-gift you the innate ability to make new choices, find balance, and live a whole and meaningful life.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Some therapists were taught to withhold our personalities so clients could project what they perceived the therapist’s inner thoughts to be. I believe this to be antiquated. I will be honest and transparent with my thoughts and feelings. I will invite you to do the same; therapy is an egalitarian dialogue. I believe some folks hold the same expectations about therapy as they do about a dinner party—you’re not supposed to talk about politics, religion, or sex. But I believe therapy is perhaps the most important place to have these discussions. I believe therapy is political. I believe in death positivity and that every human has a right to live and die with dignity. I believe toxic positivity is a problem in the wellness world and that sometimes being sad is a good and important thing. I believe reverse racism isn’t real. I believe therapy should be more accessible. I believe that therapy isn’t the only path towards personal growth. And I believe Halloween is the best month of the year.
