My Background and Approach
I am Dr. La’Toya, a licensed psychotherapist, professor, & holistic healer passionate about supporting high-achieving individuals, perfectionists, & the “strong friends” who often carry invisible burdens. My therapeutic approach integrates evidence-based methods like IFS, EMDR, Brainspotting, & Somatic Experiencing w/ holistic modalities (Reiki, trauma-informed yoga, & Afrocentric practices). As a Reiki Master, Shaman, & trauma specialist, I honor the mind-body connection & tailor each session to the unique needs of my clients, fostering a safe space for deep emotional release & transformation. With over a decade of experience, I specialize in helping clients navigate anxiety, depression, unresolved trauma, burnout, & life transitions. My practice centers on empowering clients to reconnect w/ their inner strength & wisdom, embracing healing as a journey of self-discovery & alignment. Whether through talk therapy, energy work, or somatic healing. I’m here to help you find balance.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am deeply passionate about creating spaces where healing and transformation can flourish. As a Black therapist and holistic healer, I center cultural awareness, equity, and inclusion in my work, honoring the unique experiences of my clients. I am an advocate for the mental health and well-being of marginalized communities. My values are rooted in compassion, authenticity, and empowerment, which guide how I show up for my clients and in the world. I’m also committed to integrating holistic and Afrocentric practices, believing in the power of ancestral wisdom, mindfulness, and the mind-body connection. Beyond therapy, I serve as Chair of the Physical and Mental Health Committee for my sorority, supporting community initiatives that uplift wellness. I’m also passionate about supporting other healers and creatives on their journey to alignment and self-discovery. My work is a reflection of my belief in the transformative power of connection and collective care.
