About My Clients
I have been an oncology social worker for nearly fifteen years. I primarily provide support to women diagnosed with cancer. I am knowledgeable about genetic mutations related to cancer, caregiving, anxiety, depression and codependency as well. I often focus on how to better manage anxiety and enhance self-care with a variety of adaptable tools and techniques.
My Background and Approach
I incorporate a variety of therapeutic interventions in my work with clients. I have specialized training in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) which is a type of therapy that helps people to examine their automatic, unhelpful thought and behavior patterns in order to "re-wire" how the brain thinks and drives behavior. I have specialized training in Meaning-Centered Psychotherapy (MCP) which is a type of therapy that helps people identify what has been/is meaningful in their life. This type of therapy is useful with illness and life transitions. Additionally, I’m trained in Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR). EMDR is commonly used for healing trauma through “repairing” the mental injury of trauma. I am a trained yoga teacher and reiki practitioner as well.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
It takes courage to reach out and ask for help. I have been in your position before of seeking therapy and not knowing what would come of it. In my experience, engaging in a therapeutic relationship was highly rewarding and I found that change and healing are possible. As a result of that healing, I can deeply empathize with my clients. I truly believe gentle, loving and honest reflection is the best way to support and individual, not through criticism and judgment. I am an LGBTQIA ally, I am a lover of all animals and want to help people live the life that is authentically theirs to live. I am a practicing yogi and meditator and deeply value a holistic approach to healing the mind, body and spirit.
