About My Clients

I work with members of LGBTQIA+ communities and those interested in further exploring their identities, individuals interested in renewing their relationships with their senses, emotions, and bodies, people who struggle with building everyday routines that allow them to achieve their goals, and individuals interested in better understanding how personal, family, and world histories connect with their present lived experiences.

My Background and Approach

My therapeutic style is open and curious, and I try to be the most genuine version of myself when I am working with clients. In my practice, I draw on skills I have learned from cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, attachment-based therapy, motivational interviewing, psychoeducation, and narrative therapies. My work tends to be sensory-oriented, and I encourage my clients to consider how existing in their bodies feels or could feel in the future. I have previous experience providing therapeutic services in community health center, private practice, sexual violence response center, and special education settings. In all of my work, I strive to support and celebrate the autonomy and lived knowledge of my clients. I hope to help make mental health care more accessible and less intimidating to seek out, specifically for members of marginalized LGBTQIA+ communities. I aim to make myself as approachable and open to feedback as possible.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe deeply in the power of stories - the ones we grow up hearing, the ones we tell ourselves, and the ones we immerse our senses in when we engage with media like books, movies, and video games. I believe that one of the most valuable things we can do in therapy is examine the stories we’ve been led to understand as true, and then decide for ourselves what kinds of stories would more faithfully capture and honor the complexities of our life experiences. It is highly important to me that my clients view the therapeutic space we share as their own. The worlds we move through can make it very difficult to trust that it can be safe and valuable to practice presence with our feelings. Choosing to turn towards ourselves with compassion can offer us a kind of power with the potential to expand possibilities in many areas of our lives.
